Mental Health Awareness Day at the Capitol
Partnerships are everything! We celebrated Valentine’s Day 2019 with 30 exhibitors, 5 planning committee partners, the Senate and the House of Representatives by holding Mental Health Matters in Hawaii: Mental Health Awareness Day at the State Capitol. The event included breakfast, an informational briefing, exhibit tables by mental health organizations and recognition in the Senate Gallery and on the House Floor. The result was a tangible synergy of people and organizations sharing personal stories, public health concerns and visions for a healthier future for Hawai‘i that contributed to normalizing the subject of mental health. Mahalo to event sponsor Sutter Health Kahi Mohala and legislative sponsors Senator Rosalyn Baker and Representative John Mizuno. Special thanks to Lieutenant Governor Josh Green, Senator Russell Ruderman, Senator Breene Harimoto, Senator Stanley Chang and Representative Bertrand Kobayashi. Together, let’s take the energy and momentum generated from this gathering and continue to encourage our community to make mental wellness a priority!
