We are excited to announce that we have developed a version of our Youth Suicide & Bullying Prevention (YSBP) Training to make it appropriate and meaningful for elementary school-aged children, specifically 5th graders. BECOME A DEFENDER, the new training, was created as a way to introduce students to the subject of bullying, how to prevent it, and also to talk about dealing with difficult emotions in a positive way. The training follows the evidence-based model of bullying prevention developed for our original YSBP curriculum, but does so in interactive and fun ways specifically tailored for that age demographic.
We are conducting a round of free classroom trainings this month, about 1 hour in length, but we need your help to bring our presentation into 5th grade classrooms and youth groups. If you know of a classroom, school, or youth group that could benefit from our newest curriculum, forward this e-mail to them, connect us, or give us their contact information so we can reach out.
If you are interested in scheduling a training for your group or connecting a group with us, contact our Deputy Director, at Pedro.Haro@mentalhealthhawaii.org, or call 808-521-1846.
