Registration Opens for Mental Health First Aid-Adult Version Training on June 24th, 2019
We are pleased to announce our newest offered training, Mental Health First Aid-Adult version (MHFA-A). Participants who complete MHFA-A will be certified in Mental Health First Aid and able to immediately use these skills for those in need.
The MHFA-A training:
- Is an 8-hour course that gives people the skills to help someone who may be developing a mental health problem or is experiencing a mental health crisis
- Is an evidence-based program that helps participants grow their knowledge of signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental illnesses and addictions
- Produces greater confidence in providing help to others, greater likelihood of advising people to seek professional help, improved concordance with health professionals about treatments, and decreased stigmatizing attitudes
- Randomized studies show that people who go through this program have increased mental wellness themselves.
Details for the first MHFA-A training being offered are as follows:
When: June 24th, 8:30am-5:00pm
Where: Kahala Learning Space
Who can attend: The training is open to 30 participants and is encouraged for those who work with or frequently interact with the community.
Cost: Through a grant from G. N. Wilcox Trust, we are offering a subsidized registration fee of $15. This includes materials, light breakfast, and lunch for the day.
