In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Hawaiʻi Arts Alliance and Mental Health America of Hawaiʻi will host a 4-part web series on the healing arts. Learn how creativity can foster self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, and promote a sense of personal wellness. No prior art experience necessary. Bring your imagination and creativity, we’ll do the rest.

Self-Care for Youth
The consequences of stress can impact how we learn, go about our daily lives, and relationships with our loved ones. It is especially important for youth to learn how to incorporate self-care in their daily routines. This presentation was designed to teach youth easy tools to help them feel stronger, more hopeful, and better able to cope with stress.

Live Your Life Well
The consequences of stress can impact how we work, function and get along with the people around us. Now more than ever we have the opportunity to reflect and focus on our self-care routines. Mental Health America of Hawaii’s Live Your Life Well training started as a workplace wellness program and is now being offered virtually to the community. Live Your Life Well utilizes 10 proven tools to help better cope with stress, improve one’s outlook on life, and have healthy relationships.

Practical Self-Care
Join us for a lunchtime Zoom webinar on self care. We’ll spend some time discussing the positive and negative effects of stress in our lives, as well as building awareness of our individual signs of stress. Participants will learn about three categories of self care that are evidence-based. You’ll also have a chance to try out some easy self care activities that can be done at your desk, between tasks, or on a break. You’ll leave this webinar with a list of practical self care “maintenance tools” and “quick fixes” to squeeze into your day.
Presenter: Selene LeGare, MPH is an instructor at UH Maui College, and program coordinator for the Human Services program. She includes self care skills in several of her courses in order to help students prevent burnout in their careers. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health, with additional training in psychology, lomi lomi, and acupressure.

Youth Mental Health in HI
Nationally, the alarm has been raised about increases in mental health issues among youth and there is a growing awareness of youth needs and vulnerability. In this session, the presenters will give you an overview of the state of youth mental health in Hawai‘i, share possible solutions and available resources available both locally and nationally.
