Mental Health America of Hawaii is excited to share that national MHA President and CEO Paul Gionfriddo will be in Hawaii for two speaking engagements on March 28th and 29th:

About Paul Gionfriddo: In addition to leading Mental Health America, Paul has been a consultant, speaker, writer, and non-profit leader in three states.  He served as a full-time elected official for thirteen years, in the Connecticut State Legislature and as Mayor of Middletown, Connecticut. In 2014, he published a book merging his professional and family experience with mental illness and mental health policy, Losing Tim: How Our Health and Education Systems Failed My Son with Schizophrenia. Paul is a dynamic and inspiring speaker and we hope you can join us for this rare opportunity to visit with him in Hawaii.

This event will feature Mental Health America President and CEO Paul Gionfriddo’s response to 13 Reasons Why in light of the release of Season 2. This controversial show has caused concern but also brought attention to the important topic of youth suicide prevention.  An expert in mental health policy and current trends, Paul will share his thoughts on how this streaming show can help parents and others engage with the youth in their lives on this topic in a safe and productive way. Local mental health experts will also be on hand to help answer questions and direct interested attendees to community resources.
